Tigers Finish Second In First-Ever NCAC Championship Series

CHESTERLAND, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers took runner-up honors for a second straight week in the first-ever North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship Series, finishing 48 strokes behind 11th-ranked Allegheny at the Hiram Invitational.

For the four-round competition, Allegheny finished 98 strokes ahead of the 20th-ranked Tigers with a team total of 1,318. Wittenberg posted a total of 1,416 to finish a whopping 228 strokes ahead of first-year program Wooster, which placed third in the six-team field.

Individually, the Tigers were led by junior Nicole Momsen (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula), who continued her strong spring season with a fifth-place finish with a two-day total of 167. She was backed by freshman Mary Eighmy (Erie, Pa./McDowell), who placed eighth with a score of 173, and freshman Jenna Gentner (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River), who placed ninth at 178.

Rounding things out, freshman Deanna Mychalishyn (Mason, Ohio/Mason)finished in a tie for 10th place with a 179 and junior Anne Busam (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) claimed 12th place with a 181.
