Tigers Open Spring Season With Second-Place Finish At OMNI Financial Intercollegiate

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Wittenberg Tigers kicked off the 2011 spring season with a fine second-place finish in the OMNI Financial Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan at Hunter Golf Club.

The Tigers finished behind only NCAA Division I University of Pennsylvania, beating out three scholarship programs in the process. A total of six teams took part in the competition, which capped a productive Spring Break trip that included several practice rounds on courses in Hilton Head, SC.

Freshman Mary Eighmy (Erie, Pa./McDowell) led the Tigers with a two-round total of 159, good for fifth place. Junior Nicole Momsen (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula) was close behind with a 168, good for seventh place, and freshman Deanna Michalishyn (Mason, Ohio/Mason) with a 169, good for eighth place.

Junior Anne Busam (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) placed 12th with a 173 and juniorMeghann Greene (North Royalton, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) finished 15th with a 175.
