SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers put the finishing touches on the 2009-10 season with an outstanding performance in the Wittenberg Invitational. Wittenberg finished second in a six-team field on the challenging links of Windy Knoll Golf Club.
The Tigers, playing their second tournament at Windy Knoll in four days, carded a team score of 339 to finish 12 strokes behind Ohio Northern.
Freshman Jenna Lisic (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville) led the Tigers with a collegiate-best 81 to take third place. She was followed closely by sophomore Anne Busam (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline), who posted an 82 to finish in a fourth-place tie.
Rounding out the Tigers' scorers were freshman Meghann Greene (North Royalton, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) and sophomore Carrie Frey (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) with matching 88s to finish in a ninth-place tie. SophomoreNicole Momsen (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula) rounded out the Tigers' starting five with a solid 90.
Four other Tigers played as individuals in the competition. The top scorer among that group was freshman Miranda Pettit (Crawfordsville, Ind./North Montgomery), who carded a 93.
