The Wittenberg men's and women's golf teams have both been
extremely active this fall, and the results are encouraging.
The men finished fourth in an extremely tough field at the Denison
Fall Invitational on Sept. 14-15, which included numerous 2003 NCAA
Division III Tournament teams. Senior Adam Knowlton
(Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) carded a sparkling two-day
total of 147 (73-74) and junior Andy Bonar (Lancaster,
Ohio/Lancaster) chipped in with a 148 (74-74). Both were
good for top-20 finishes. At the rain-shortened Anderson
Invitational on Sept. 21, the Tigers finished just 15 strokes
behind the winning team from DePauw. Knowlton led the team with a
77.
On the women's side, the first-year team has competed well in the
Hanover and Baldwin-Wallace Fall Invitationals. Senior Erin
Mowrey (Toledo, Ohio/St. Ursula) led the team in both
events. She had a two-day total of 194 at Hanover and a one-day
score of 93 at B-W. Sophomores Ann Delaney (Buffalo Grove,
Ill./Buffalo Grove) and Callie Riley (Orlando,
Fla./Winter Park) and freshman Erica Bodnar
(Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) all scored for the Tigers
in both events.
