Wittenberg University Vice President & Director of Athletics and Recreation Brian Agler ’80 introduced Tony Cooper as the head coach of Wittenberg's women’s bowling program in August 2023.

"It is my goal to develop a POSITIVE and RELAXED atmosphere so that these ladies can grow as bowlers and students and possibly achieve a winning culture on the way," Cooper said.

Cooper brings nearly 15 years of coaching experience to the Tiger bowling program. He has played a part in starting two local bowling programs in the Clark County area at Southeastern High School in South Charleston from 2009-13, before taking charge of the team at Emmanuel Christian High School in Springfield from 2012-14. While at Southeastern, Cooper led the team to district competition, and one individual advanced to the state championship event. Cooper led Emmanuel Christian to an eighth-place finish at the state championship event in 2014.

Cooper got his first experience at the collegiate level at Urbana University, where he led the women’s program for five seasons. While at Urbana, Cooper led the Blue Knights to the sectional tournament four times from 2015-2018. The Blue Knights secured a tournament title under Cooper's direction, and he also guided Maude Demere to All-America recognition in 2016.

Most recently, Cooper served as head coach of the St. Paris Graham High School girls' program. In one season with Graham, Cooper guided the Falcons to a Central Buckeye Conference title and a Southwest District Sectional Championship before securing his second eighth-place team finish at the state tournament.

Cooper earned his United States Bowling Congress Bronze certification in 2022, and he added Silver Certification in 2023. Cooper was inducted into the Clark County Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2017. A 1983 graduate of South High School in Springfield, Cooper earned his degree in mechanical engineering from Clark State College in 1987.
