Wolshire Lands Final Points for Seventh Conference Win

Oberlin, OH- Wittenberg headed to Oberlin for their eighth conference match-up of the season against the Yeowomen of Oberlin. The Red & White who were coming off of their first loss since the beginning of December looked to bounce back and after a tough comeback were able to pull off a 54-50 win.  

The Tigers shot 32.7% from the field, 50.0% in three points, and 63.6% from the line going 14-22. Wittenberg was able to put 54 points on the board being led by Kelsey Ragan with 17 points followed by Evie Wolshire with 11 points. Defensively, Wittenberg was led by Jade Simpson with nine rebounds.

Wittenberg started behind with nine points on the board in the first quarter compared to the yeowomen's 13 but with a dramatic turn the Tigers came back to dominate in the second quarter tallying 21 points to take a 30-22 lead heading into the half. The third and fourth quarter would become a more even playing field with both teams going back-and-forth. The Tigers were unable to outscore the Yeowomen after the second quarter but thanks to their early efforts and final points from Evie Wolshire in the form of a three-pointer and foul shots, the Tigers were able to leave with a 54-50 win.

Wittenberg adds their seventh conference win to their season record and improve to a 14-4 overall record. The Tigers will see the Yeowomen once more in conference play later this season on February 18th.

Up Next: Wittenberg will return home on January 31st against Wooster at 6:30 PM. Prior to the match-up, in coordination with SAAC, Wittenberg will be accepting donations for Oesterlen. This is part of a bigger campus drive being put on through the Hagen Center. Oesterlen is a mental health treatment and social services agency serving youth and families in Springfield.
