Springfield, OH- The Tigers returned from the holiday break for one last game before they rang in the New Year. Wittenberg took on the Harriers of Miami-Hamilton after coming off of a three-game win streak, picking up the last two at home in the Wittenberg Holiday Classic. With a 71-67 score the Red & White were able to tally their fourth straight win to end 2022.
The Tigers shot 43.3% from the field, 23.8% in three points, and 73.7% from the line. Wittenberg was able to put 71 points on the board being led by guard, Jazmyn Gaines-Burns with 19 points and seven rebounds, followed by Kelsey Ragan with 17 points and three rebounds. Defensively, the Tigers were led by Evie Wolshire with eight rebounds on the day.
Wittenberg was able to land 20 points in the first quarter and 15 points in the second to head into halftime with 35 points on the board and a 15-point lead. Heading into the locker room the Tigers were led by Jazmyn Gaines-Burns with nine points and two rebounds, followed by Taryn Cash with eight points and four rebounds. The Red & White were able to stay ahead in the third quarter with 12 points and 24 in the fourth.
Up Next: Wittenberg will return to action on January 4th against Denison in their first conference match-up of the year at home. Tip-off will begin at 7:00 PM.
