Tigers Fall To No. 12 Baldwin Wallace In Home Opener

Springfield, OH -- The Tigers suffered their first loss of the season in their home opener against the No. 12 Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets falling 56-43. Wittenberg continued to battle back after falling into an early hole, however, were never able to overcome the first quarter deficit.

 The Tigers came out with physical play against the Yellow Jackets, forcing the visitors into foul trouble early, keeping the score tight after the first 10 minutes with a six point Tigers deficit. Led by 11 points in the first half by Junior Jade Simpson, the Tigers were able to keep the Baldwin Wallace lead to eight at the half, 31-23.

The Tigers came out swinging in the third period. With great performances from Sophomores Jazmyn Gaines-Burns and Kelsey Ragan, the Tigers pulled to within 4 at the end of the third. After a strong start however to the fourth period, the Yellow Jackets were able to defeat the Tigers by a final score of 43-56.

The Tigers are back in action this Sunday, November 20th against Hanover college to conclude the Wittenberg Tip Off Tournament.
