Sophomore Ashlynn Stamper named NCAC Softball Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD — Wittenberg sophomore Ashlynn Stamper (Yellow Springs, Ohio/Beavercreek) was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for the week of April 15-21.

This marks Stamper's first career NCAC Player of the Week accolade. It comes after she posted a .600 batting average over four games during the week, going 9-for-15 at the plate with three doubles to go with eight RBIs, two runs scored and one stolen base to lead the Tigers to a 3-1 record in a doubleheader split with Ohio Wesleyan and a doubleheader sweep of Wooster.

In a 7-4 win over Ohio Wesleyan, she was 2-for-4 with two doubles to go with four RBIs and two runs. She was a combined 5-for-8 with a double, four RBIs and one steal in the doubleheader sweep of Wooster with wins of 4-3 in 10 innings and 4-0.

On the season, Stamper ranks second on the team in batting average (.397), has a team-high three home runs and is tied for the team lead in doubles (4) and RBIs (21).

The Tigers (17-15 overall, 3-3 NCAC) return to action on Thursday for an NCAC doubleheader at Kenyon beginning at 3:30 p.m.
