
Greencastle, IN – The Wittenberg Tiger softball team dropped their NCAC road series at DePauw. Falling in a hard-fought battle in game one to the Tigers from Indiana, 5-4. Wittenberg dropped the final game of the series to DePauw, 11-3, in five innings.
Wittenberg tallied nine hits on the day, with five coming in game one.
Wittenberg battled back in the first game, after DePauw took the early 3-0 advantage through the first two innings. Shannon Flaherty drove in the first Tiger run with a sacrifice fly to push Hanna Ecker across for the first win of the day. Flaherty drove in the second Wittenberg run in the sixth inning, cutting the DePauw lead, 3-2, with a single to center.
A seventh inning homer from Ashlynn Stamper cut the DePauw advantage, 5-4 before the final out was made.
After DePauw jumped out to an early 4-0 advantage after the first inning. Diana Quevedo cut into the home sides lead with a three-run homer to left, making it a 4-3 game.
Wittenberg would throw a variety of pitchers in the second game, as DePauw would add to their lead in the third, fourth and fifth innings.
