Tigers Drop Doubleheader At Anderson

Anderson, IN – The Wittenberg Tiger Softball team fell in the road doubleheader to the Ravens of Anderson University. Anderson took game one by a final score, 9-1. Wittenberg battled back in game two, eventually falling in game two, 9-6. Wittenberg tallied five hits in game one to start the afternoon with nine hits in game two.

Wittenberg fell behind early in game one, with Anderson posting six runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Tigers found their first run in the top of the second by way of an RBI single from Hannah Weymouth.

Anderson was the first to strike in game two, putting up their first run in the bottom of the first inning. The Tigers responded with two runs in the top of the third to take their first lead of the day. Hanna Ecker put Wittenberg on the board with a two-RBI single to left, making it a 2-1 ballgame. After a two-run homer from the Ravens during the bottom half of the third put Anderson back on top. Wittenberg responded with a four-run rally of their own to regain the lead.

Kayla Drake got the Tiger scoring started with a double to center, scoring Audrey Robinson and equalizing the game, 3-3. Julia Burch followed with a two-RBI bases clearing triple to left center, putting Wittenberg back on top, 5-3. Burch would keep the pressure on the Ravens defense, coming home to score on the passed ball. Anderson would add two runs in the fourth and four more in the sixth to regain the lead and secure the win.
