Lexington, KY – The Wittenberg Tiger Softball team split their opening series on the weekend, first falling to Spalding University, 14-1. The Tigers bounced back in the second game of the series, picking up their first win of the season with a 6-3 win over the Ravens from Anderson University.
The Tigers tallied 13 hits between the two games.
Samantha Casteel drove in the lone RBI in game one for the Wittenberg offense, drawing the bases loaded walk in the fourth inning.
In game two, Briana Busic, Hanna Ecker, and Shannon Flaherty posted a pair of hits for the Wittenberg offense. Lilly James drove in two Tiger runs on the day, first with a groundout in the third, and then a single through the left side in the sixth, extending the Tiger lead, 5-1.
Julia Hall secured her first win from the circle in a Wittenberg uniform, tossing 3.2 innings. Hall allowed four hits with one run allowed and one strikeout. Kira van Ravensberg came in to secure the save with 3.1 innings pitched, allowing one hit and striking out one Anderson batter.
