Tigers Fall At Allegheny

Meadville, PA – The Wittenberg Tiger Softball team traveled to Allegheny College, falling to the Gators in their NCAC doubleheader. Taking a 4-2 lead in the top of the seventh of game one, the Tigers were unable to hold off the Allegheny rally during their final at-bat, falling 5-4. The home side kept the momentum going in game two with the 3-0 shutout of the Tigers. Wittenberg tallied 11 hits on the day with a pair of hits coming from Hanna Ecker in game one and two hits from Clara Andersen in game two.

Wittenberg scored their first runs of game one in the fifth inning, scoring off of a Diana Quevedo single through the right side. Julia Burch knocked a single into left, bringing around Shannon Flaherty and knotting things up at 2-2. Burch would bring around two more Tiger runs in the seventh, putting Wittenberg on top 4-2, reaching on the fielder's choice and forcing the Allegheny error. The Gators responded in the bottom half of the inning with three runs of their own.
