OBERLIN, Ohio — Over the last two weeks, the Wittenberg Tigers have played some of the strangest doubleheaders - from a statistical standpoint - imaginable. Then came Saturday's split at North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Oberlin.

The Tigers won Game 1 by a staggering 20-0 margin, keyed by the two-hit pitching of senior Brooke Boswell (Hamilton, Ohio/Fairfield) and two home runs from sophomore Jessica Snyder (Northfield, Ill./New Trier). The nightcap was nothing short of a stunner, however, as Wittenberg's offense was limited to just three hits (after collecting 18 in the opener) in a 5-0 defeat.

Wittenberg is now 10-14 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC after the split. Oberlin is now 3-19 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The Tigers are now 19-1 all-time against the Yeowomen.

In Game 1, the Tigers put six runs on the board in the second inning and then broke the game open with nine runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth. Four Wittenberg players finished with three hits in the game - sophomore Brooklyn Cox (Dayton, Ohio/Vandalia Butler), Snyder, Boswell and sophomore Tori Amicon (Galloway, Ohio/Hilliard Darby). Cox and Amicon drove in four runs each, while Snyder brought around seven baserunners on a single and a pair of three-run dingers. In addition, senior Jade Chivington (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellefontaine)contributed a three-run homer.

Boswell pitched the second game as well, scattering nine hits and allowing five runs (four earned). But the offense couldn't get a runner past second base, failing to even manage a baserunner until the sixth inning.
