CINCINNATI, Ohio- In back-to-back outings the Tiger women have played toe-to-toe with some of the best competition in the Great Lakes region, most recently splitting with Mount St. Joseph with a 2-0 win and a 1-0 loss. Pitching proved to be the story of the afternoon, as the Tigers squeezed home a pair of single runs in their victory.
A Brooke Boswell (Hamilton, Ohio/Fairfield) double drove home Tori Amicon (Galloway, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) in the first inning, proving to be the game-winning run. Senior ace Rachael Hatcher (West Carrollton, Ohio/West Carrollton) made the run stand up before getting a bit more breathing room in the fifth, when Cameron Catalfu (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) scored an unearned run to double the Tiger edge.
Hatcher's five-hit shutout was her second complete game blanking in as many outings. In game two, the Tigers threatened, but could never break the ice as the Lions returned the favor in the split.
At 5-11, head coach Becky Hall and company will return home to take on Case Western Reserve on Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m.
