KISSIMMEE, Fla.- After building a 2-0 edge heading into the late innings, Wittenberg could not hold off a late Shenandoah charge as the Tigers dropped another pair of games against the Hornets and Coe College. In their Sunday opener, the Tigers fell 4-2 before dropping the second contest 10-0 in five innings against the Kohawks.
A pair of Tigers had good mornings at the plate, with sophomore outfielder Maranda Moore (Willard, Ohio/Willard) knocking a pair of hits, including a double. Moore joined senior Julie Ziegler (Sandusky, Ohio/Perkins) in the multi-hit category.
Tiger sophomore outfielder Jessi Allen (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) punched home one of the runs, with Brooke Boswell (Hamilton, Ohio/Fairfield) collecting the other RBI. In the day's second game, Boswell got the call and took the loss for the Tigers against nationally-ranked Coe, but did do some damage at the plate, knocking a triple.
Benedictine and Trine now await the Tigers on Monday, March 9, as the spring break trip continues with game times at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
