LEXINGTON, Ky. - After taking two from Mount St. Joseph on Tuesday, the Wittenberg Tiger softball team kept on rolling along, grabbing two from host Transylvania the very next day by scores of 7-1 in the first game and 5-3 in the nightcap.
Senior outfielder Amy Myser (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) was perfect at the plate in game two, riding a 3-for-3 performance for one RBI and crossing the plate twice herself. And just to round it out, she added two stolen bases to help her teammates secure the victory. Knocking in two RBI was senior stalwart Sarah Fetters (Woodhaven, Mich./Maumee (Ohio)).
Fetters splits the season lead in RBI with sophomore starting pitcher Brooke Boswell (Hamilton, Ohio/Fairfield), each with 12 to date. Boswell went all seven innings in the nightcap to earn the win, allowing just one earned run and sending two back to the dugout on strikes. She moves to 4-2, the Tigers best pitching W-L record on the season.
In the day's opener, Boswell took to leftfield and went 2-3 in her at-bats with one RBI, and Fetters stayed true to form, hitting safely in two of her four plate appearances. On the mound, junior Rachael Hatcher (West Carrollton, Ohio/West Carrollton) threw a complete game, striking out seven and holding Transylvania to just six hits. She also filled a spot in the lineup, going 2-3, including a two-RBI homerun down the leftfield line in the sixth.
The Tigers, now on a four-game win-streak and currently standing at 10-6, will bring the momentum back home for a Saturday doubleheader versus Case Western Reserve, starting at 1 p.m. at Betty Dillahunt Field.
