Wittenberg Falls To Thomas More

ORANGE, Calif. - Four errors did in the Wittenberg Tigers in an 8-1 loss to Thomas More in a game played at Chapman University in Orange, Calif. The loss dropped the Tigers to 1-2 overall on the young campaign.

Senior pitcher Norah Gillam allowed all eight runs, although just three were earned. Freshman pitcher Taryn Hensel allowed a hit and a walk but managed to secure the final out for the Tigers and allow the game to go the full seven innings. On the flip side, Wittenberg managed a respectable eight hits against Thomas More, which will play Wittenberg twice in California and two more times back in Crestview Hills, Ky. on March 17. Sophomore Stephanie Zorn had the Tigers' lone run batted in, scoring senior Jen Meyer.

The Saints scored three times in the first inning, thanks in part to two doubles to open the frame and a home run later. Then Thomas More broke open a close game with five tallies in the sixth inning, aided by three errors and powered by a grand slam.
