Tigers Split Second Day of Weekend Road Trip

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Volleyball team went 1-1 over the weekend from the Wabash Invitational, taking on Marian (Wis.) and Trinity Christian. The Tigers opened the day against Marian, falling in a hard-fought battle, 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-22). Wittenberg bounced back in their second match of the day defeating Trinity Christian in straight sets (28-26, 25-23, 25-23).

Wittenberg logged a .176 hitting-percentage in the first match of the day. Leading the Tiger attack, Michael Yurk put down 12 kills on 34 swings to get the afternoon started. Wittenberg found their groove in the final set, out-hitting the Marian attack .216 to .194. Tom Supan added 10 kills, logging a .227 hitting-percentage. Andrew Diaz de Padilla tallied 20 of 32 assists with six digs.

Wittenberg kept the momentum rolling into the second match of the day with a decisive 3-0 win over Trinity Christian. Trajan Kress led the offensive effort with 13 kills on 22 attempts for a .409 hitting-percentage. Supan continued his high-level play, putting down 12 more kills for a team-high .529 clip. Sam Richardson posted 19 assists with Dias de Padilla adding 16, each tallying an ace apiece from the service line.
