2021 Men's Volleyball Season Preview

Wittenberg men's volleyball returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 6 hosting a newly established Wabash College program for two matches from the 1929 Fieldhouse. The Tigers are coming off of a 7-12 record from the 2019-2020 shortened season.

Upon the graduation of three seniors, Noah Wissel, Justin Rolfes, and Jackson Tyler, the Tigers are looking forward to rebuilding their team with the help of 5 returners and 2 newcomers. Returning junior Russ Burke is coming off of a solid season having a total of 129 points and 90 digs from 17 total matches. Sophomore Dominic Melchiorre comes of an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Newcomer of the Year season.  Last season Melchiorre had 198 points, 150 of those points being kills, and 42 blocks. The Tigers will look to Burke and Melchiorre as key players the Tigers heading into the season. Also, Cameron Menini, had 42 digs last season as a freshman playing in 19 total matches.

The team is looking forward to being able to get back on the court as they stay home for their first matches of the 2021 campaign, on Saturday, February 6th, against Wabash College. The Tigers will stay home for their second set of matches, hosting another newly established program from Baldwin Wallace University. Wittenberg will take their first road trip of the 2021 season, traveling to Adrian College in late February, before returning home to host Mount. St. Joseph for their final home series of the month. Wittenberg plays their final home match on Saturday, March 13 hosting Olivet. The Tigers are slated for trips to Fontbonne, Mount Union, and Trine University in the final month of the season. Check out the full interview with Coach Thompson below.

Spectators will not be permitted at any indoor venues, as of today (2/3). This policy could change throughout the semester. Only necessary game day personnel will be admitted.  Live video streams of home athletic contests will be provided by the Tiger Sports Network.
