BROOKLYN, NY - The Wittenberg Tigers continued to excel on the road, defeating Brooklyn 3-0 on the second day of their eight-match, four-state Spring Break odyssey.

The win pushed the first-year Tiger program to 10-5 overall on the 2016 season. The New York portion of the Spring Break trip continues with a pair of matches hosted by Yeshiva on Tuesday before Wittenberg heads back to the Buckeye state for a match against Stevenson on Thursday at Mount St. Joseph.

Wittenberg defeated Brooklyn by set scores of 25-19, 25-6 and 25-17, thanks in large part to a tremendously efficient offensive attack. The Tigers were credited with 60 attack attempts in the match, with 27 finding the floor for kills against just seven errors. Every player clad in Red & White entered the match at least one time.

Freshman Joel Sotos (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) led the way offensively for the Tigers, accounting for 14 kills and a tremendous .480 attack percentage on 25 attempts. No other Wittenberg player finished with more than three kills in the match.

Freshman Ross Russell (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) dished out 11 assists to go along with three service aces. Wittenberg piled up a stunning 22 service aces in the match, led by freshman Carter Schmidt (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) with six.

Defensively, no Wittenberg player finished with more than five digs. Tops in that category was freshman Nathan Matthews (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln), while freshman Justin Luby (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) showed the way in blocks with four, including a pair of solo efforts.
