BEREA — The Wittenberg men's outdoor track and field team competed in select events at the Harrison Dillard Twilight meet at Baldwin Wallace on Thursday and Friday.
The Basics
- Venue: George Finnie Stadium and Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds - Berea, Ohio
- The javelin and discus events were contested on Thursday, and the remaining events were contested on Friday. The throwing events were held at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, and the remaining events were held at Baldwin Wallace's George Finnie Stadium.
- The meet was not team scored.
- Wittenberg competed in eight events at the meet, which featured teams from all NCAA divisions.
Wittenberg's Top Performers
- In the high jump, junior Justin Norris (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown Christian) placed eighth with a mark of 1.92 meters, and sophomore Grayson Ring (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) was 13th with a mark of 1.87 meters.
- Freshman Nicolas Farfoglia (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) was 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.15 meters.
- Sophomore Jeremy Watson (Sugar Grove, Ohio/Berne Union) was 11th in the pole vault with a mark of 4.22 meters.
- In the 100 meter qualifying prelims, senior Matt Drovdlic (Hilliard, Ohio/Bradley) was ninth in 11.11 seconds, and freshman Neal Godfrey (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) was 16th in 11.29 seconds.
- In the 52-runner field in the 200, Drovdlic was 30th in 22.42 seconds, and Godfrey was 46th in 23.52 seconds.
- Freshman Troy Crosby (Clayton, Ohio/Northmont) was 18th in the discus with a mark of 28.47 meters.
- Sophomore Max Green (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) was 22nd in the hammer throw with a mark of 43.18 meters.
- Freshman Owen Bier (Elyria, Ohio/Midview) was 26th in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.82.
Potential National Qualifiers
- Based on national rankings, the top 22 individuals in each event and top 16 relay teams will qualify for the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Entering Friday, Wittenberg had three student-athletes ranked inside the top 30 in their respective events.
- Junior Conor Kolka (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) was 14th in the 10,000 meters with a time of 29:42.25.
- Freshman Jayden McKinster (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) was 28th in the discus with a mark of 49.38 meters.
- Junior Cameron Elliott (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) was 29th in the 400 meters with a time of 47.88 seconds.
