Tigers Take Multiple Top Spots From Wooster Invite

Wooster, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Track & Field team traveled to the Wooster Scots Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Tiger women's squad captured a second-place finish with 120.33 points amongst the field of six teams. The Wittenberg men earned a third-place finish with 112 points, right on the heels of host Wooster in the second-place spot. The Tigers saw competition from familiar North Coast Athletic Conference foes including, Allegheny, Denison, and Kenyon.

Reigning NCAC Women's Sprints Athlete of the Week, Lindsey Magoteaux set the tone for the day for the Tigers with a pair of first-place finishes in both the 60- and 200-meter dash. Magoteaux posted a prelim time of 8.06, shaving .06 with a final time of 8.00 in the final heat. Fellow Tiger newcomer, Reese Neumeyer worked her way into the top three, crossing the line in a time of 8.23 for a third-place finish. Getting faster by the final heat, once again, Magoteaux improved in the 200 dash, shaving a 27.20 prelim time down to a 27.00 for the final race. Kyngston Collins earned a fourth-place finish in the 200, clocking a time of 27.89. Meghan Frazier earned herself a top-three finish in the 400 meter, closing out the race in a time of 1:06.12. The Tigers battled it out amongst the top of the pack in the 3000m with Lauren Welker earning a second-place finish in a time of 10:56.82. Newcomer Corin Turkovich was not far behind, stopping the clock in a time of 10:59.64 for a fourth-place finish. Neumeyer took the top spot in the 60 hurdles for the Tigers, stopping the clock in a time of 9.71. At the high jump pit, Hannah Schartz earned a tie for the second spot, clearing a jump of 1.50 meters. Competing in the pole vault competition, Neumeyer earned Wittenberg points with a fourth-place finish, clearing a height of 2.90 meters. Julissa Williams captured a first-place finish in the long jump competition, posting a mark of 4.87 meters. Magoteaux secured more points for the Tigers, earning a fifth-place finish with a jump of 4.71 meters.

The Tiger men got the day started with a first-place finish from Mattew Drovdlic, clocking a time of 7.17 in the 60-meter dash. Matt Rogers earned a third-place finish, recording a finals time of 7.25. The Tigers took three of the top five spots in the 200-meter dash, led by Zeke Bennett in the top spot with a time of 23.02. Drovdlic and Rogers finished back-to-back at fourth and fifth with times of 23.36 and 23.46. Ephram Evans edged out the runner from Kenyon in the 800-meter, earning the fifth-place finish in a time of 2:07.531. Adam Arndt worked his way into a third-place finish in the one mile, stopping the clock in a time of 4:48.45. Cullen Sainey clocked a final time of 9:11.49 in the 3000m run, earning a fifth-place finish. Dustin Franks posted a fourth-place finish in the 60m hurdles, stopping the clock in a time of 9.34. The Tiger 4x200 meter relay team consisting of Drovdlic, Bennett, Rashon Edwards and Rogers earned the first-place finish with a finals time of 1:31.06. The Wittenberg 4x400 relay made up of Caden Zellner, Sam Callinan, Bennett and Ian McCandlish secured a second-place finish with a time of 3:39.35. Competing in the high jump competition, Justin Norris captured a third-place finish, clearing a height of 1.90. Callinan took a fourth-place finish in the pole vault competition, clearing a vault of 3.80. Franks posted a first-place finish in the long jump competition with a leap of 6.56 meters.
