Dr. Jack Toms Alumni Invitational Recap

Lynchburg, Va. – The Wittenberg University men's and women's track and field team took part in the Dr. Jack Toms Alumni Invitational from Lynchburg College over the weekend. The Tigers were unable to compete at the Muskie Duals from Muskingum College last weekend last weekend making leaving this their opening outdoor competition of the season. After several hours on the bus to Virginia, Wittenberg jumped into two fierce days of competition against the likes of Rochester, Christopher Newport, Southern Virginia, Bridgewater, and Adelphi to name a few camps around the meet.  

Junior Kenny Mayes earned a second-place finish in the 800m race with a 1:58.23 mark. Charles Rodeheffer picked up a third-place finish in the 5k race, crossing the line in a time of 15:27.09. Senior Tyler Gittins finished in the sixth spot in the 110m hurdles in a time of 15.56. Austyn Albanese crossed the line in a time of 53.31 in the 400m for a seventh-place finish. Kyle Farnbauch crossed the line in the 400m hurdles in a time of 57.55 for a fourth-place finish.

Zach Guyer took fourth in the long jump event, leaping a distance of 6.38m. Tomas Pyle covered a distance of 11.13m in the triple jump event, earning a fifth-place finish.

The women's portion of the day was started by Alexis Johnson taking third in the 100m dash with a 13.40 mark. Samantha Mitchell crossed the line in the 200m dash in 27.23 for an eighth-place finish. Sophomore Alexis Gray crossed the line in the 800m race in a time of 2:26.32 for a fifth-place finish in the Invitational section of the race. Freshman Anna Lebold earned a second-place finish with a 2:27.80 and Cymone Horton finished in a time of 2.39.90 for a fifth-place finish in the 800m open. Erika Bournival crossed the line of the 5k open in a time of 20:12.37 for a fourth-place finish. Ryelee Clary crossed the line in the 100m hurdles in a time of 16:05 for a fourth-place finish. In the 400m hurdles, Taylor Barnhisel earned a second-place finish with a 1:08.33 mark.

Senior Anissa Dann won the hammer invitational portion of the day with a toss of 38.96m. Freshman Hannah Eley earned a sixth-place finish in the shot-put competition with a toss of 9.34m, following up with an impressive fourth-place finish in the discus event with a hurl of 28.84m.
