WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Following a lengthy break from competition that included the annual winter break, the Wittenberg Tigers returned to the track for the first time in the new year at the Otterbein Invitational.

Wittenberg fared well in a competition loaded with unattached and scholarship program individuals, finishing seventh in the 12-team field on the men's side and fifth of 15 women's teams.

The Tigers claimed a pair of first-place finishes in the meet, led by the 4x200-meter women's relay, which crossed the line ahead of the pack in a time of 1:51.66. Freshman Jada Moore (Columbus, Ohio/South), sophomore Frankie Bowsher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln), sophomore Alaina Longshore (Columbus, Ohio/Franklin Heights) and junior Brea Medlock (Galena, Ohio/Big Walnut) were the members of that relay.

Junior Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) matched that finish in the long jump as he recorded a mark of 7.00 meters. Other highlights among the men's competitors came from junior Justin Fisher (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll), who placed fifth in the triple jump, senior Justin Yates (Dayton, Ohio/Bellbrook), who took third in the 500 meters, senior Victor Banjo (Sugarland, Texas/Stephen F. Austin), who finished fifth in the 60 meters, and senior Adam Kapuscinski (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore), who reached the line second in the 800 meters.

For the Tiger women, freshman Sara Richards (Columbus, Ohio/Lincoln) placed sixth in the 400 meters, Longshore added a third in the 500 meters, Medlock contributed a sixth in the 800 meters, senior Jeanette Klamfoth (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) took sixth in the 500 meters, and junior Jordan Crow (North Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde) finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles and fifth in the long jump.
