Tigers Tune Up For NCAC Outdoor Championship Meet At Denison

GRANVILLE/DELAWARE, Ohio — Wittenberg's men's and women's track and field teams participated in a final tune-up for the 2012 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship meet at the Denison Invitational.

The meet did not record team scores. Also during the final weekend of the regular season, Ohio Wesleyan hosted the first event of the 2012 NCAC Championships as the men competed in the decathlon and the women in the heptathlon.

Wittenberg was represented by junior Aaron Long (Worthington, Ohio/Kilbourne) in the decathlon. He placed 13th among the 15 competitors entered.

At Denison, sophomore Molly King (Springfield, Ohio/Northeastern) paced the Tiger women with a first-place finish in the 3000 meters. In addition, freshman Kristin Mercer (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) was a winner in the 100-meter hurdles.

On the men's side, sophomore Victor Banjo (Sugarland, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) continued his phenomenal season with a victory in the 100-meter dash, while junior Jacob Kuntz (Versailles, Ky,./Woodford County) added a win in the 3000 meters, junior Moses Mbeseha (State College, Pa./State College) picked up the title in the triple jump, sophomore Logan Jackson (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) was a winner in the hammer throw, and the 4x400-meter relay quartet of sophomore Chris Frierson (Cedar Hill, Texas/DeSoto), freshman Charles Watson (Star, Idaho/Eagle), freshman Justin Yates (Dayton, Ohio/Bellbrook) and senior Ryan Hagen (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) hit the finish line in first place.

The Tiger teams will travel to Allegheny for the 2012 NCAC Championships on May 4-5.
