Tigers Compete Well At Annual All-Ohio Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Competing on a wet, windy, cool day, the Wittenberg men's and women's track and field teams performed admirably at the All-Ohio Outdoor Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. The Tiger women placed 12th out of 20 teams, while the men finished 16th in a 21-team field.

Both teams were led by a second-place finisher. On the women's side, it was senior Anna Henry (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston), who crossed the finish line in second place in the 10,000 meters with a time of 38.14. For the men, the leader was sophomore Victor Banjo (Sugarland, Texas/Stephen F. Austin), who was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.79.

Also scoring for the Tiger women were sophomore Molly King (Springfield, Ohio/Northeastern), who took fourth place with a personal-best time of 18:14 in the 5,000 meters, and the pole vaulting duo of juniors Kaileigh Bible (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellefontaine) and Paige Lloyd (Medina, Ohio/Cloveleaf), who placed fifth and sixth, respectively.

Also scoring for the men was junior Trevor Grandy (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman), who placed a strong fifth in the 10,000 meters in a time of 32:49.33, freshman Adam Kapuscinski (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore), who placed eighth in the 800 meters, and senior Kyler Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington), who took eighth in the 1500 meters.

In addition, the 4x100-meter relay placed fifth. Sophomore Chris Frierson (Cedar Hill, Texas/DeSoto), freshman Justin Yates (Dayton, Ohio/Bellbrook), freshman Charles Watson (Star, Idaho/Eagle) and Banjo reached the finish line in 43.76.
