Tigers Run Well At Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers picked up several strong individual finishes in the 2011 Marv Frye Invitational, hosted annually by Ohio Wesleyan University.

The Tiger women placed 10th in the 15-team field with 26.75 points. The meet was won by Baldwin-Wallace with 111.50 points.

The Tiger men finished 13th in the 15-team field with nine points. Baldwin-Wallace was tops in this competition as well with 119.50 points, edging out the host Battling Bishops, who posted 112 points.

The top individual finish for either team was turned in by junior Kari Domiano (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome), who placed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.95. She added a third-place finish in the 200 meter dash in a time of 26.05.

Also of note was the performance of junior Lindley Bell (Pittsfield, Mass./Mount Greylock). She finished fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 12:37.

On the men's side, the top finish was turned in by senior Thomas McElwee (Herriman, Utah/Blue Valley) in the javelin. His toss traveled 49.36 meters, easily bettering his seed mark of 45.67.

The Tigers' other point-scorer was junior Justen Cox (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson), who placed sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.13 meters.
