Tiger Women Post Best Finish Yet With Second At Washington & Jefferson

WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Wittenberg women's outdoor track and field squad posted their best team finish of the season, indoor or out, with second place at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational on Saturday. The men placed 11th in the same meet.

A banner day for the women was highlighted by an individual win for sophomore Kaileigh Bible (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellefontaine) in the pole vault on a height of 9-8.0, and the 400 relay team's first-place finish on a time of 49.87.

The 400 relay team consisted of sophomore Shawnquaya Johnson (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Claymont), junior Jordan Stafford (Springfield, Ohio/Greenon), junior Kari Domiano (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) and freshman Alea Taylor (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield).

Domiano went on to quite a day, posting second-place finishes in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes on times of 12.95, 26.64 and 1:00.32, respectively, as the Tigers' top point scorer. She shaved nearly 2.4 seconds off her seed time in the 400.

Sophomore Paige Lloyd (Medina, Ohio/Cloverleaf) finished second to Bible in the pole vault on a judge's decision after she matched Bible's 9-8.0 vault.

Freshman Shannon Kelleher (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) took third place in the 10,000-meter run to round out the medalists for the women, finishing in a time of 40:26.24. Other notable finishes included junior Anna Henry's (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) fourth place in the 10,000-meter run and freshman Ashley Milliner's (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood) fifth place in the long jump.

On the men's side, senior Kevin Frick (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview) led the team with a second place finish in the 10,000-meter run, beating his own meet record of 33:30.54 with a time of 33:10.08, just 2.73 seconds behind the first-place finisher and new meet record holder, Nick Edinger of Geneva.

Other notable finishes for the men included a fourth-place 400-meter dash for freshman Chris Frierson (Cedar Hill, Texas/DeSoto) and a pair of fifth-place finishes from senior Thomas McElwee (Herriman, Utah/Blue Valley) in the javelin and sophomore Sven Isaacson (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton) in the hammer throw.
