Tigers Get Through Busy Weekend At Cedarville, All-Ohio

The Tiger track & field teams were busy this weekend, competing on Friday in the Cedarville Invitational and on Saturday at the All-Ohio Invitational hosted by Kenyon College. The men turned in a 10th-place finish and the women an eighth-place finish at Cedarville, while the teams finished 16th and 13th, respectively, at the All-Ohio meet.

Sophomore Adam Markins (Chillicothe, Ohio/Union Scioto)was the first point scorer for the Tiger men on Friday at Cedarville, taking fifth place in the 800-meter run on a time of 2:03.98. Markins followed that up with a time of 2:45.24 in the 1,000-meter run, good for fifth place overall and third among scoring participants.

The men also picked up points on the sixth-place finish of the men's 4x400 relay. The team consisted of freshmanAbubakar Shegow (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Pickerington North), sophomore Aaron Long (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne), sophomore Nash Oliver (Aurora, Colo./Lutheran) and freshman Wade Westbrook (Columbus, Ohio/Whetstone).

Freshman Keri Good (Greencastle, Ind./Greencastle) started the women's portion off with a fourth-place showing in the high jump, before freshman Erin Duffy (Concord, Ohio/Painesville Riverside) helped out with a ninth-place finish in the weight throw. Freshman Cara Vendeville (Perry, Ohio/Perry) matched in the pole vault, and freshman Ashley Milliner (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood) turned in fifth-place honors in the long jump, joined in the scoring by ninth-place sophomoreDemi Davison (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley).

The women's 4x800 relay team finished fourth thanks to team members freshmanRebecca Agnor (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Watkins Memorial), junior Samantha Iden (Pickerington, Ohio/North), junior Catherine Kuerbitz (Cleveland, Ohio/Regina)and freshman Molly King (Springfield, Ohio/Northeastern).

Junior Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) provided the women's top finish with a second-place showing in the 600-meter run on a time of 1:43.94, joined by seventh-place Iden. Sophomore Amy Stamon (Louisville, Ky./Assumption) then rounded out the scoring for the Tigers in eighth place in the 3,000-meter run.

At the All-Ohio Invitational, junior Ryan Hagen (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island)provided the Tigers with six points on a third-place finish in the 800-meter run on a time of 1:57.53, narrowly missing out on breaking the indoor school record he set in the event only last week at DePauw with a time of 1:57.36.

For the women, freshman Alea Taylor (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) placed fifth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.57, then went on to run the first leg of the eighth-place 4x200 relay, joined by sophomore Shawnquaya Johnson (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Claymont), freshman Angela Roll (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) and junior Kari Domiano (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome).

Johnson, Dubuc, Domiano and Kuerbitz would later pick up eighth-place honors in the 4x400 relay. Roll later finished seventh in the high jump, followed by the Tigers' best finish of the meet, a fourth-place long jump from Taylor on a distance of 16 feet, 5.75 inches.

The Tigers are back in action on Friday, Feb. 18, at the Scarlet & Gray Invitational, hosted by Ohio State University, followed by a trip to Bexley, Ohio, for the Rick Meindl Last Call hosted by Capital University on Saturday.
