Tigers Perform Well At DePauw Invitational

GREENCASTLE, Ind. — The Wittenberg track and field teams went up against a loaded field at the DePauw Invitational on Saturday and came away with some impressive individual finishes. As teams, the women finished ninth of 11 and the men were 11th of 11 participating schools. 

For the women, freshman Paige Lloyd (Medina, Ohio/Cloverleaf) led the Tigers with a first-place finish in the pole vault on a height of 2.8 meters, besting her seed height by six centimeters.

Freshman Shawnquaya Johnson (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Claymont) followed up with an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter dash, and sophomore Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) turned in a ninth-place finish in the 1,500-meter run.

The men were paced by junior Thomas McElwee (Herriman, Utah/Blue Valley), who took third place with a javelin throw of 46.97 meters. Freshman Josh Colbert (Urbana, Ohio/Urbana) added a sixth-place finish in the long jump and sophomore Ryan Hagen (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island)was eighth of 38 competitors in the 800-meter run.

The track and field teams both run next at the annual Marv Frye Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday, April 10.
