Wittenberg Teams Differ At Cedarville Invitational

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Wittenberg men's and women's track and field teams headed to nearby Cedarville University Saturday and brought back differing results. The women finished an impressive 4th of 12, behind only host Cedarville, an institution in transition to NCAA Division II, and strong NCAA Division III programs Capital and Marietta, while the men finished 12th of 15.

Sophomore Anna Henry (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) led the Tigers individually with a first-place finish in the 10,000-meter run, while the 4-by-100 relay team of freshmanShawnqua Johnson (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Claymont), freshman Whitney Goller (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty Benton), sophomore Jordan Stafford (Springfield, Ohio/Greenon) and sophomore Kari Domiano (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) took first in their event with a time of 49.80 seconds.

Stafford also competed in the 400-meter dash, where she took second place, and sophomore Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) matched with the silver medal in the 800-meter run. Freshman Biz Goodbarn (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Highlands Ranch) also notched a second-place result in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Freshman Paige Lloyd (Medina, Ohio/Cloverleaf) took third in the pole vault, while Domiano took third-place in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

Other notable finishes for the women include freshman Kaileigh Bible's (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellefontaine) tie for fourth in the pole vault and the fourth-place result of Goller in the 100-meter hurdles.

The men were paced by a third-place finish in the pole vault for freshman David Kolakowski (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River). Freshman Aaron Hartzell (South Vienna, Ohio/Northeastern) jumped his way to fourth in the high jump, and junior Thomas McElwee (Herriman, Utah/Blue Valley) placed sixth with the javelin. Sophomore Jarrett Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) rounded things out with seventh-place honors in the 800-meter run.

The men and women both compete next weekend, Saturday, April 3, in the DePauw Invitational hosted by DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.
