Mary Pfeifer's Record Highlights Good Day At Loaded Rhodes Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Wittenberg Tigers made the long trek south to get some much-needed work in against some of the competition around at the Rhodes Invitational. Highlighted by a school record and third-place finish by sophomore Mary Pfeifer (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) in the 10,000-meter run, the Tigers finished strong in a loaded field.

Pfeifer covered the distance in 38:31.97 to finish behind runners from Calvin and Vanderbilt. Her time was nearly 23 seconds better than the previous program standard by Becky Barnes in 2004.

Other strong finishes were turned in by sophomore Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven), who finished 13th in the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:54.19 and eighth in the 800 meters in a time of 2:25.36, freshman Whitney Goller (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty Benton), who finished 12th in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.92 and ninth in the long jump, and sophomore Jordan Stafford (Springfield, Ohio/Greenon), who crossed the finish line in the 400 meters in a time of 58.60, good for ninth place.

The top men's finishes were turned in by freshman Josh Colbert (Urbana, Ohio/Urbana) with a fifth-place finish in the long jump and freshman David Kolakowski (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River), who cleared 13-9.25 to finish eighth.
