Packed Weekend Features Plenty Of Success For Tigers

COLUMBUS, Ohio - It was an action-packed weekend for the Wittenberg men's and women's indoor track and field teams, including three separate events. The frenetic weekend started with the unscored Scarlet & Gray Invitational at Ohio State on Friday and continuing with the Rick Meindl Last Call Invitational at Capital and Ohio Wesleyan's Pentathlon Meet on Saturday. The women finished eight of 11 teams at Capital while the men turned in a sixth-place finish among 13 teams.

At Saturday's pentathlon at Ohio Wesleyan, senior Tim Uher (Granville, Ohio/Pickerington North) represented the Tiger men with a fourth-place finish among a field of eight. His efforts were highlighted by a first-place spot in the long jump portion. He finished fourth in each of three portions including the 55-meter hurdles, high jump and shot put. He finished eighth in the 1,000-meter run.

Freshman Whitney Goller (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty Benton)represented the women's team in the pentathlon and took first in the 55-meter hurdles portion, second in the long jump, fourth in the high jump, and fifth in the shot put and 800-meter run portions.

On Friday, sophomore Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) turned in a fourth-place finish in the one-mile run, beating a bevy of runners from NCAA Division I programs including Ohio University, Ohio State and Austin Peay with a time of 5:12.28. On Saturday, freshman Amy Stamon (Louisville, Ky./Assumption)highlighted the Capital Invitational for the women with a third-place showing in the 3,000-meter run thanks to a time of 11:23.52, while sophomore Samantha Iden (Pickerington, Ohio/North) placed fourth in the 500-meter run with a final time of 1:25.90.

The men turned in a myriad of impressive finishes on Saturday at Capital, led by first-place honors for sophomore Jarrett Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) in the one-mile run and the all-freshman distance medley relay team of Stephen Klingner (Silver Springs, Md./James Hubert Blake)Tim Huesing (Mason, Ohio/Mason)Nash Oliver (Aurora, Colo./Lutheran) and Aaron Long (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne). Freshman David Kolakowski (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River) and junior Kevin Frick (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview)turned in matching third-places in the pole vault and 3,000-meter run, respectively, while freshman Adam Markins (Chillicothe, Ohio/Union Scioto) placed fourth in the 800-meter run.

Both the men and the women return to the track on Friday, Feb. 26, at the Denison Invitational.
