Wittenberg Teams Finish Strong At Otterbein Indoor

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Wittenberg track and field teams made the short trip to Otterbein for the Otterbein Invitational and came back with a long list of fine finishes. The men finished second of six teams, and the women were third among the same field.

Leading the highlights was the school record-setting performance of freshman Whitney Goller (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty Benson) in the 55-meter hurdles. She finished second in the event but set a new Wittenberg women's mark with a final time of 8.64 seconds. She added a third-place finish in the triple jump to round out a successful day.

The rest of the women's team backed Goller up with four first-place honors, including two from sophomore Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven), first in the 800-meter run and later in the one-mile run, and two from sophomoreSamantha Iden (Pickerington, Ohio/North) in the 400-meter dash and the 1,000-meter run. Sophomore Kari Domiano (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) secured a second-place finish in the 55-meter dash.

On the men's side, senior Tim Uher (Granville, Ohio/Pickerington North) collected a first-place finish in the triple jump to go along with a second-place showing in the 55-meter hurdles. Other first-place performances included junior Jumar Guy (Fort Wayne, Ind./Southside) in the 400-meter dash, sophomore Ryan Hagen (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) in the 500-meter run, and freshman Josh Colbert (Urbana, Ohio/Urbana) in the long jump.

Freshman Doug Holmes (Lakeville, Conn./Housatonic Valley) finished third in the 400-meter dash, and freshman David Kolakowski (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River) turned in a second-place finish in the pole vault.

Both teams take to the track again in one week at the North Coast Athletic Conference Relays on Saturday, Jan. 30 at Denison.
