Wittenberg Opens 2010 Indoor Season At Capital

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Wittenberg indoor track and field teams each finished seventh in their first event of the year at the Capital Indoor Invitational on Saturday.

The men saw several impressive finishes, led by a first-place finish from freshman Josh Colbert (Urbana, Ohio/Urbana) in the long jump and a sixth-place showing in the 60-meter dash. Freshman David Kolakowski (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River) turned in a second-place finish in the pole vault.

Senior Tim Uher (Granville, Ohio/Pickerington North) was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles, while freshman Adam Brown (Cincinnati, Ohio/Withrow) was fifth in the shot put.

On the women's side, freshman Whitney Goller (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty Benton)paced the team with second-place finishes in both the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump. Sophomore Catherine Kuerbitz (Cleveland, Ohio/Regina) contributed a third-place finish in the 500-meter run, and sophomore Lizzy Hauser (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Whiteford) was fifth in the high jump.

The track and field teams are back in action next weekend at the Otterbein Invitational at Otterbein College on Saturday, Jan. 23.
