MEMPHIS, Tenn. - It is certainly no more than a coincidence, but the Wittenberg Tiger track and field teams probably wish the Rhodes Open was a scoring meet. Thanks to 14 top-20 finishes, the Tigers would have fared pretty well. Leading the way was junior Gabe Savage (Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-County North).

Savage finished his first of two events of the day with a second-place finish in the men's 1500-meter run with a time of 4:02.40 in a field of 43 runners, representing even NCAA Division I schools such as Arkansas State and Ole Miss. He finished his impressive day with a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run, this time in a field of 49.

Wittenberg also received an impressive showing from senior Allison Walker (Columbus, Ohio/Academy), who took fifth in the women's weight throw and ninth in the discus.

A myriad of other Tigers contributed to an excellent weekend. The teams will next make the short trip to Cedarville University for their outdoor invitational on March 29.
