Wittenberg Women Secure Fourth At NCAC Championships

GRANVILLE, Ohio - The Wittenberg women's indoor track and field team put together a strong two days at the North Coast Athletic Conference championships to take fourth place, while the men had highlights of their own, finishing in seventh place overall.

Freshman Kaitlyn Wesseler (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne)headlined the event with a school record-breaking fourth place performance in the pole vault. After breaking the school record earlier this season, she vaulted a full six inches higher than the previous mark set by three different Tigers in 2001.

Other banner performances from the women included the second place finishes ofNicole Bailey (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) in the 55-meter dash and long jump, her third place finish in the triple jump, the third place finish of Allison Walker (Columbus, Ohio/Academy) in the shot put, and the second place finish of the 4x200-meter relay team. The team's members included Bailey, Kristy Parker (Hamilton, Ohio/Ross), Tara Osborne (Oxford, Ohio/Talawanda) and Katie Shoemaker (Arcanum, Ohio/Franklin Monroe).

On the men's side, Gabe Savage (Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-County North) took fourth place in the men's 800-meter run, Erik Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Country Day)matched in the high jump and placed third in the triple jump to highlight the meet.
