Jim Minard joined the Wittenberg University tennis coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in 2019.

Minard has played competitive tennis through the United States Tennis Association (USTA) for many years, competing at the 4.0 and 4.5 levels. Playing with his son, Luke, a 2019 Wittenberg graduate, Minard was a finalist in the 2015 Montgomery County Open Doubles Tournament. He also made the finals of the 45-and-over singles competition that year.

Minard has worked in the field of medical device sales for 35 years, and he has been with Medtronic since 2014. He and his wife Linda have three kids, Logan, Luke, and Lexie. Luke earned three All-North Coast Athetlic Conference (NCAC) designations during his collegiate career, and Lexie is a current student at Wittenberg.
