Men's Tennis falls 6-0 at top-seeded Denison in NCAC Tournament quarterfinals

GRANVILLE — The eighth-seeded Wittenberg men's tennis team fell 6-0 at top-seeded and host Denison in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Friday afternoon.

The Basics

The Match

  • Denison opened the match by winning all three doubles courts. Junior Ethan Libby (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) and freshman Jacob Bennett (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) fell 8-1 at No. 1, junior Mark Trinka (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest) and freshman Sven Van den Eerenbeemt (S-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands/Gymnasium Beekvliet) fell 8-0 at No. 2, and freshmen Henry Smith-Heston (Yellow Springs, Ohio/Yellow Springs) and Daniel Patel (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) fell 8-0 at No. 3.
  • The Big Red clinched the match by winning three singles courts by matching 6-0, 6-0 scores, as Bennett fell at No. 3, Van den Eerenbeemt fell at No. 4, and Patel fell at No. 6.
  • The Nos. 1, 2 and 5 singles courts ended once Denison had clinched the match. At the time the match was called, Libby trailed 0-6, 1-3 at No. 1, Trinka trailed 3-4 at No. 2, and Smith-Heston trailed 0-6, 1-4 at No. 5.
