Season Outlook

Rob Lehner

The 2009-10 Wittenberg men's tennis team, led by second-year Head Coach Justin Stuckey, has the pieces in place to make a strong run toward the top half of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) standings.

Junior captain Bobby Fisher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) and freshman Sergio Fishkin (Minsk, Belarus) lead the way for the Tigers, manning the No. 2 and No. 1 singles positions, respectively. Fisher is coming off a 2008-09 season in which he posted an 11-9 record at the No. 2 singles position to earn a honorable mention All-NCAC honors and a 12-10 doubles record while splitting his time between two different partners and primarily playing the No. 1 position. Fishkin stepped in during the fall season and won two of his first three singles matches and two of his first three doubles matches at the No. 1 position with senior Rob Lehner (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) in the fall season.

Sophomore captain Stephane Antwi (Rosedale, NY/McClancy Memorial) mans the No. 3 singles position again in 2009-10, posting a 3-0 dual record in the fall season after going 11-8 in singles as a freshman. He also finished 2008-09 with a 12-8 doubles record after pairing with a variety of partners in the No. 2 spot. After missing the fall season while studying abroad, junior captain Andy Lamb (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) bolsters the lineup for the spring after posting a 10-13 singles record a year ago. Senior captain Craig Lods (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) is also coming off a strong 2008-09 season in which he posted a career-best 12-4 singles record, playing primarily the No. 5 position.

Lehner returned to the line-up in the fall after missing the 2008-09 season due to injury. He went 2-1 playing No. 5 singles in the three fall matches.
