Tigers Place Third In Home Meet

Springfield, OH- The Tigers hosted their first home meet of the 2019-20 season in a tri-meet against Wilmington and Transylvania University. Both the men's and women's teams placed third overall with scores of 97 against Wilmington (men), 104 against Transylvania (men), 95 against Wilmington on the women's side and 73 against Transylvania.

The Women: Wittenberg's Marita Banta-Long had a successful day with two first place finishes in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.98 and the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:18.68. Freshman, Bridget Logan made a statement today placing first in the 200 yard freestyle (2:07.31), second in the 50 yard freestyle (26.16), and third in the 100 yard freestyle (57.45). Also placing for the Tigers were Claire Bergefurd with a time of 2:11.78 in the women 200 yard freestyle and Abby Dunasky with a second place finish (5:39.69) in the 500 yard freestyle. The women placed third in the 200 yard medley relay out of five teams with Sophia Spriggs, Abbys Dunasky, Marita Banta-Long, and Bridget Logan finishing at 2:02.76.

The Men: Senior, Brad Barren led the Tigers with three individual first place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle (22.42), 100 yard freestyle (49.45), and 100 yard butterfly (55.57). Nick Angeli joined Barren with a first place finish of his own in the 1000 yard freestyle (55.57). Also placing for the Tigers were freshman Sam Dudley in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:03.35), Anthony Petruzzi placed second in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:13.54) and third in the 200 yard IM (2:09.76), and Matthew Schaeffer placed third in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:33.14. Wittenberg's relay team landed in first for the 200 yard freestyle relay with the help from Barren, Dudley, Petruzzi, and Drew Suffoletta, the group finished with a time of 1:34.30.

Up Next: The Tigers will be back Friday, November 15th as they host Ohio Northern in a dual meet at 6 PM.
