Tigers Drop Season Opener

Delaware, OH- Wittenberg opened their 2019-20 season against Ohio Wesleyan. This year's squad consists of ten freshman with a few making strides in the right direction. Wittenberg was unable to handle Ohio Wesleyan and ended with a score of 131-57 on the women's side and 117-70 on the men's.

The Tigers were able to take first place spots in both the men's and women's 400 yard freestyle relay. The men (Brad Barren, Sam Dudley, Drew Suffoletta, and Nick Angeli) finished with a time of 3:30.97 while the women (Marita Banta-Long, Claire Bergefurd, Meggie Suffoletta, and Bridget Logan) finished at 3:58.64 to beat out the Bishops.

The Women- On the ladies side, senior Banta-Long had a first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle (2:03.86) and a second place finish (1:03.83) in the 100 yard butterfly. Sophomore, Abby Dunasky beat out two Ohio Wesleyan swimmers to land a first place finish in the 1000 yard free style with a time of 11:40.73. Lastly freshman, Bridget Logan started her college career with two second place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle (26.04) and the 100 yard freestyle (58.39).

The Men- Senior, Barren led the men with two first place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle (22.57) and 100 yard butterfly (55.33). Sophomore, Anthony Petruzzi finished with two second place spots in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:41.37) and 200 yard IM (2:12.76). Also helping on the men's side was freshman, Sam Dudley, who had two second place finishes in the 100 yard freestyle (50.78) and 100 yard breaststroke (1:03.32).
