Wittenberg Falls To National Power Kenyon In Final 2007-08 Dual Meet

GAMBIER, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers put the finishing touches on the 2007-08 dual meet season with a strong performance at national powerhouse Kenyon. The men fell by a team score of 125-103, while the women dropped a 123-98 decision.

While the losses dropped the men to 6-5 overall and the women to 6-4, there was plenty to cheer in the final tune-up for the 2008 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championships. The Tigers will serve as the host team for the annual event, which takes place Feb. 14-16 at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio.

Individual winners for Wittenberg women were sophomore Adeline Brym (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington) with a 1:58.71 in the 200-yard freestyle and freshman Megan Shubitowski (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson), who swept the diving events. Numerous Tigers claimed second-place finishes, including Brym in the 100 backstroke, sophomore Janna House (St. Thomas, Ontario/Central Elgin Collegiate Institute) in the 100 butterfly and sophomore Kristin Elber (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) in the 100 free.

On the men's side, sophomore Neil Anderson (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) claimed the top spot in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.30 and the 500 free in 4:49.05, freshman Matt Higbee (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) finished first in the 50 free with a time of 22.10 and sophomore Matt Erenpreiss (Columbus, Ohio/Centennial) was the winner in the 1-meter diving event. Freshman Phil Bambach (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) placed second in the 200 IM and senior Brian Harris (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) added a runner-up finish in the 100 free.
