GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Wittenberg men's and women's swimming teams turned in impressive performances over the weekend at the tough DePauw Invitational, the women taking second place and the men in third. Multiple first place finishes highlighted the competition for the Tigers.
Wittenberg senior swimmer Jeff Smith (Mansfield, Ohio/Senior) paced the men in individual points, supplying 22, good for 14th overall, while sophomore Neil Anderson (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) was right behind with 20 in 15th place. The women were represented by the excellent swimming of sophomore Adeline Brym (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington) once again, who placed fourth individually with 36 points. Kaitlin Clark (Wakeman, Ohio/Firelands) was close behind with 30 total points for a 10th place finish.
Brym finished two individual races in first place, the 200 and 500 freestyle, while swimming the lead leg in the 800 freestyle relay, which took first place for the Tigers.
Anderson won the 500 freestyle, while sophomore teammate Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ohio/Senior) took first in the 100 backstroke to round out the top finishes for the men.
The DePauw Invitational included tough fields of 10 and 11 teams for the women and men respectively. The teams both travel to Transylvania on Tuesday for a dual meet at 6:30 p.m.
