Springfield, Ohio- On a crisp September Saturday afternoon, Wittenberg men's soccer battled Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe, Adrian College, but was unable to come away with a win, as a goal in the final moments of the game propelled the Bulldogs to a 1-0 victory.

With the loss, the Tigers remain winless on the season, dropping to 0-2-1 and Adrian maintains its spotless record, improving to 3-0.

Both Wittenberg and Adrian created persistent offensive attacks throughout the game, with Kees Ciric (Loveland, OH/Loveland) totaling three of Wittenberg's eight first half shots. However the offensive activity did not produce the desired results, and both teams headed into the break knotted a zero.

The second half was action-packed as the Tigers used their width attack, to create multiple offensive opportunities. Christopher Meyer (Toledo, OH/St. Francis) was prevalent offensively and with sixteen minutes to play, he had an open shot that sailed just high of the goal. Ciric also got in on the action, continuing to test Adrian's goal keeper, as he recorded three second-half shots, with one on frame. Despite the efforts, in the remaining three minutes of the match, Adrian's Kyle Peterson broke the tie, scoring the lone goal of the contest.

After the Adrian score, the Tigers feverishly exerted all efforts to tie the game, as Wittenberg's offense tallied a flurry of shots, led by Meyer and Ryan Shindeldecker (Findlay, OH/Findlay) however, the effort wasn't quite enough as the Tigers fell just short.

The Tigers outshot the Bulldogs by an outstanding 21-12, and took 10 corner kicks compared to Adrian's zero.

Tiger goalkeeper Sam Nitzberg (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati Country Day) recorded four saves on the afternoon.

Continuing their non-conference slate, Wittenberg men's soccer looks to earn its first win of the season as they travel to Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, September 11 for a 7pm kick off.
