Tigers Power Through to a Win

Richmond, IN -- The Wittenberg Tigers traveled out to Richmond, Indiana to take on the Earlham College Quakers where they came from behind to win 3-1. The Tigers took advantage of every chance they had, collecting 18 total shots to the Quakers' 10. Junior goalkeeper Cooper Robertson saved six of the seven shots from the Quakers, making his save percentage .714 for the season so far.

The Quakers came into the match winless, but hit the net first in the 11th minute. It was less than 10 minutes later that the Tigers evened the playing field, tying it at 1-1 with a goal from sophomore defender Alex Brown assisted by freshman Kees Ciric. The Quakers would not score for the remainder of the match.

The teams began the second half tied, then senior Eli Esterline took the lead for the Tigers in minute 72. The match stayed offensive, both teams having five corner kicks in the second half alone. This made way for the game winning goal from Ciric in the 80th minute, solidifying the fourth win of the season for the Tigers.

Wittenberg is playing their next match at home Wednesday, September 21st at 7:30 p.m. against Heidelberg University.
