Tigers Open Trip Abroad With A Tie

CHESTER, England — A day after the Wittenberg Men's Soccer Team toured the headquarters and home stadium of world-renowned professional football franchise Manchester United, which Head Coach Steve Dawson described as "quite an eye-opener for the lads," the Tigers played their first game of the trip.

Overcoming some early jitters, the Tigers tied Witton Albion 1-1 at Crewe and Alsager College Complex. Wittenberg's goal came from Brian Glenn, with an assist from Justin Jenkins. Dawson described it as a "Good hard game - they were very physical but also technical."

"They knew a little too much for our guys and we were very nervous at first, but gradually got more into the game and had a number of good chances," he added.

The Tigers next play a strong men's amateur team from Liverpool at Chester College, then the team is off to London for 3 days, including an opportunity to see a professional match when Arsenal plays Fulham in their English Premier League opener.
