Springfield, Ohio — Wittenberg University men's golf standout Jordan Millice, class of 2012 from Cable, Ohio, has been recognized for the combination of his athletic and academic accomplishments with second-team Capital One Academic All-America College Division honors.

Men's golf is grouped in a category called "Men's At-Large," which encompasses numerous sports, including field hockey, lacrosse, swimming and diving, and tennis, among others. Millice earlier was chosen as a first-team all-district honoree as a result of online voting conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Student-athletes who make the first team in district voting are then considered for Academic All-America awards.

The national academic honor is the second in a row for Millice, who earned a third-team award in 2011. He also earned the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Elite 88 Award in both 2010 and 2011, in recognition of the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average participating at the finals site each year, and he claimed NCAA Division III All-America Scholar honors from Cleveland/Srixon and the Golf Coaches Association of America in 2011.

Millice, who graduated from Wittenberg with a degree in business last month after posting a 3.90 cumulative grade point average, was a key contributor for the Tigers during his collegiate career, which included three North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championships and NCAA Division III Tournament appearances. Millice, who shot the second-lowest round (68) in program history twice in his career, posted two top-15 finishes in the 2011-12 season, and he checked in with a stroke average of 77.1, nearly one stroke better than a year ago.

Millice was one of four Tigers to earn All-NCAC honors in 2011 after finishing in a tie for ninth place in the NCAC Championship Series. He added a 47th-place finish out of 205 golfers at the 2011 NCAA Division III Tournament after placing 92nd at the national competition in 2010. He concluded his career in the Red & White with a 70th-place finish in the 2012 national tournament as the Tigers placed seventh.

Away from the course, Millice was active in Wittenberg's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and served as president of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. In addition, he received the prestigious Woodrow Wilson Prize for Excellence in Business at the 2011 Honors Convocation to go along with membership in numerous academic honoraries.
