SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - A pair of UW-Oshkosh Titans broke into double figures as the WIAC representative advanced to the Charles B. Zimmerman Holiday Classic title game with a 47-38 win over Alma College.
Erin Baganz and Shelby Churchill led the way in the low post, scoring 12 and 11 points respectively, as the Titans pulled away in the second half in the low-scoring affair. Neither team shot the ball well, but the Titans 35 percent shooting from the floor was enough to hold off the Scots. The teams combined for 37 turnovers, while the Titans controlled the glass by a 38-34 margin.
The teams battled to a 25-15 score at halftime in favor of UW-Oshkosh. In the second half the Scots looked to close the deficit, but they could never bring the margin inside three points while the Titans methodically pulled away. Leading the way for Alma, Sydney Beckwith tallied nine points on the afternoon. Meagan Hoblet added eight points in the losing effort.
UW-Oshkosh moves onto the championship game to be played on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 5:30 p.m., where they will meet the winner of Wittenberg University and the College of Mount St. Joseph
